Recommended Training Equipment
At Wiggly Dog Training we only use “force free methods” and as such promote the use of training equipment that is intended to be comfortable for your dog to wear and if equipment is required stop a dog pulling, it is done by redirecting the dog rather than hurting it.
Examples of recommended equipment include:
- A flat leather or nylon collar with a buckle or clip fastener
- A fixed length nylon or leather lead (no flexi-
leads please!) - Clickers
- Toys (please don’t use balls in class –
balls on ropes are OK) - Treats (nice and tasty ones –
if you would eat it your dog will love it) - Head Harnesses such as:
- Gentle leader
- Halti
- Body Harnesses such as :
- Halti Harness
Equipment we don’t allow
We don’t allow the use of any equipment that is designed to inflict pain or discomfort to the dog.
Examples of band such equipment (include but are not limited to):
- Check Chains
- Slip Leads
- Lupi harnesses (and similar that squeeze the dogs front legs)
- any form of electric or remote control collar
Equipment we have for sale in class
We have training equipment for sale in class at reasonable rates, normally you can buy items such as:
- Clickers (Box and I-
Click) - Toys (tug toys, squeeky toys, soft toy fox and racoon without stuffin, rope balls etc)
- Balls (‘dog’ and ‘good quality’ tennis balls)
- Other ‘bargain’ items bought from time to time.
